Dear Course Participant:

Thank you for registering for ACLS/PALS.  This course is intended to be a challenging and rewarding experience offered at no cost to participating members of the Brazos

Valley Regional Advisory Council. In exchange, we would ask that you come prepared and on time.  Your course details are found above.

All participants are required to provide their own book.  Books can be purchased by visiting We are currently teaching the 2010 guidelines. Please obtain a copy of the 2010-2011 AHA ACLS/PALS book.

All participants are required to arrive with a basic understanding of rhythm recognition and pharmacology.  Both ACLS and PALS have evolved to include more complex topics, and basic rhythm interpretation and pharmacology are no longer offered as part of the course material. Unfortunately, there is not enough time to completely cover these topics during your course.

All participants are required to complete the AHA precourse self-assessment prior to your course.  The precourse material can be found on the CD included with your book.  Once completed, please print your score report and bring it to class with you. The material will assist you in preparing and will serve as a self-assessment of the material to be covered in class.  It will also be helpful in preparing you for the written assessment at the end of the course.

The successful completion of your course will depend on your preparation.  It is essential that you read the book and have a good understanding of the material prior to attending the class.   Any student who does not meet the requirements set forth by AHA to receive a card may repeat the course at a later date. For questions, directions, and

cancellations, please email Myles Matherne, RN, AHA TC Faculty at the email

address above.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!

P.S.        Class will be held at the Blinn College Texas A&M Campus on Hwy 47 campus unless otherwise noted in the email (8447 Texas Hwy 47 Bryan, TX 77807).  The EMS classroom is located in the Allied Health Building farthest on the left on the 2nd floor.  Parking vouchers will be issued upon arrival to class and must be placed in your vehicle ASAP
